Surveillance and enforcement system data

Important distinction

Tektrans provides surveillance and traffic enforcement technology to public sector clients including local authorities, councils and police forces. The data collected by those systems — including vehicle images, number plate data, and road user behaviour analytics — is processed on behalf of our public sector clients, who act as the data controller for that information.

Tektrans acts as a data processor in relation to that operational data. It is not collected through or governed by this website privacy policy. If you have a question about data collected by a traffic enforcement scheme in your area, please contact the relevant local authority or public sector body responsible for that scheme.

How we use your information

We use the information we hold to:

  • Respond to your enquiries and questions about our solutions
  • Arrange demonstrations, site assessments or project discussions
  • Manage and develop our relationships with public sector clients and partners
  • Send relevant updates about our services, where you have agreed to receive them
  • Improve our website and the way we communicate our services
  • Meet any legal or regulatory obligations

Our legal basis for processing

  • Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries, manage client relationships and develop our business with public sector bodies
  • Contract performance — to deliver services agreed with local authority and public sector clients
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to retain records by law
  • Consent — for any marketing communications we send to you

Public sector and B2B client data

The majority of personal data we hold relates to individuals working within local authorities, councils, police forces and public sector transport bodies. We treat this data with the same care and rigour as any other personal information. Where we process personal data on behalf of a public sector client as part of a managed service contract, this is governed by a separate data processing agreement between Tektrans and that client.

Our sister company Pulsare, as the technology development entity within the Arrowsmith Analytics Group, may also process data in connection with the development and operation of our systems. Any such processing is subject to appropriate intra-group data sharing agreements.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell personal data. We may share it in limited circumstances:

  • With Pulsare and other entities within the Arrowsmith Analytics Group, where necessary to deliver our services
  • With trusted IT and administrative service providers who support our business operations, under appropriate agreements
  • With public sector clients, where required to fulfil a managed service contract
  • With authorities or regulators, where required by law

We do not transfer personal data outside the UK or European Economic Area without appropriate safeguards in place.

How long we keep your data

  • Website enquiry and contact data — up to 2 years
  • Client and contract records — for the duration of the contract and up to 6 years after it ends
  • Financial and invoicing records — up to 7 years (HMRC requirement)

Data is securely deleted or anonymised once it is no longer needed.
